Eureka Maxima: Not Giving You Maximum Results

We purchased a Eureka Maxima Bagless vacuum with hopes to end our vacuuming blues. Needless to say that it worked well for the first half; they always do. You get the product home and began to use all the wonderful features that were stated on the sales ticket...but then it happens. 'It' being the tiny particles left on the floor. 'It' being the many times you have to roll over the particles to finally get them off the floor, or 'it' being the strange noise coming from underneath. Is that a 'shake, rattle and roll'?
Since I'm the person who uses the Eureka Maxima Bagless vacuum the most, I am well aware of how many times I have to roll over a stray piece of fabric or string on the floors just so the vacuum cleaner can pick it up. I'm sure that I don't have to explain to any of you how nerve wrecking that is to have to repeatedly roll over a smidget of a particle in order to have it removed by something that is said to have suction enough to pull a person from the ground, and onto a ceiling. Okay, maybe it's not the commercial for Eureka vacuums, but I expected for the Eureka Maxima to work just as well. It's working with 12 amps of power, it should have some great suction action, if you ask me. Either way, I was pleased with the Eureka Maxima, until then.
I'm sure that the life of any product will affect it's performance, but we have had that Eureka Maxima vacuum for only a year. And trust me, we are not doing any heavy duty cleaning with it. Just your basic living room, dining room, den, hallway with stairwell included. Oh, and the foyer gets a nice run-over when I do the stairs. Don't get me started on that floor when it comes to using the Eureka Maxima vacuum cleaner. I know that the foyer floor has particles and dust on it, but when I do run the Eureka Maxima vacuum over the linoluem floor, I don't hear any particles being picked up. Now, how's that for a hard job not done.
Don't take this review strongly; I do support Eureka products, but I would suggest that the buyer acknowledge that most products have a shorter life span than others. And be mindful of the maintenance on your products. If you keep the maintenance up on your products, there is a slight chance that the life span of that product may be stretched.
But above all, be certain that you are getting your dollar's worth from any product that you buy; we paid less than $100 for our Eureka Maxima vacuum, and we definitely got more than our money's worth...so, thanks Eureka for that. But I would suggest a bit more work on the drawing board with the suction.

Hi Ronyae, you have written an excellent article. I'm sorry you are experiencing trouble with your Eureka. But let me suggest something for you. The suction of any vacuum should never lessen so long as the brush is good, the motor still runs good, and there are no obstructions in the air passages, such as the filter. All of these bagless vacuums have a replaceable filter which is easily removed and replaced. Take yours out and examine it to be sure there are not some bigger pieces of paper or something that have clogged it or the passages. If it looks as if the filter is clogged and you are unable to clean it up, you can order another filter, floor brush or other part directly from Eureka if you still have the booklet that came with it. If not, you may be able to find a replacement filter at Walmart. They keep a good number of them.And most of them are quite cheap. Hope that helps.Thanks Joel!

Thanks Ronyae, for this entertaining review of this vacuum. I could picture you going back and forth with big sigh's and putting pressure on the thing as if it will make a difference, only to bend down and pick the piece of whatever up with your hand....or is that me I see? Ronyae,I think if we were to read enough of SearchWarp's articles, we could start our own Consumer's Digest. I have the Eureka canister vac -- probably 6 years old -- and I absolutely love it on my hardwood and ceramic tiled floors. It packs a lot of power, is not too heavy (does use MM bags which are hard to find) and does the job.Thank you for your article.Nancy,Thanks for reading and sharing a comment. hi ronyae,this was an enjoyable article, and i know exactly what you mean. i remember having to tilt the base of the upright vacuum up while pulling it towards me, to get it to pick anything off the floor. i like when a vaccum really sucks, and you know it's cleaning. i cleaned for a woman once who had central vacuuming, and it was heavenly. thanks for sharing,my best regards,sueSue,Thanks for the familiarity, it was welcoming and a relief....but what is central vacuuming - I must be a bit slow on that one
