Food Poisoning and My Trip To the Hospital

As I curled up on my Mother's bed, hoping to feel her presence just by laying on it, all I could think of was being stripped from the one thing that I truly enjoyed doing: eating. I was about to lose Faith in the very thing I had pride and priviledge in accomplishing. It all would be lost because of a bad chunk of breakfast sausage...

My co-worker and I decided to have our brunch at a local Original Pancake House; my order of pancakes, sausage patties and coffee became a weapon of destruction to my insides nearly an hour later. She and I, both commented on the bad after-taste of the coffee after I had released some of it in the bathroom of the courthouse. But my first mistake is the reason I'm sharing this submission as a collection. When I began my ritual of slicing the sausage patties in order to have smaller peices, I notice the 'rubbery' texture. The meat cut with ease, but it seemed as if it had been re-cooked or placed on the grill again to be warmed, but was on the grill too long, or maybe it was just spoiled meat. However the case, the meat made me sick, and I found myself being admitted into Henry Ford Hospital for food poisoning.

And my mistake in this, was not notifying my table attendant of the 'rubbery' sausage patties. But regardless of me having need to do so, the restaurant is responsible for all items serviced or given to their customers. So, my collection is in reference to Precautions to Eating Public Foods; when you are not eating from home, you have to be mindful of the consequences that come with eating from kitchens you have no firsthand knowledge of. But relying on Faith helps us all in ways beyond measures, and stay Blessed with that knowledge.

On the collection of knowledge on food poisoning, I would like to share with my readers a true fact: food poisoning can be a deadly illness, and you must seek immediate help!

Ronyae - I have been there too - it is horrible! My culprit was a bowl of broccoli cheese soup. I noticed it was a bit "watery" but tasted OK. By the time my lunch with my friend was over, I needed to lay down and the next day or so was the sickest I have ever been. I never reported it to the restaurant or anyone else. I think I figured they wouldn't ever think their food was at fault. Needless to say, that restaurant is off my list! I'm glad you are better.

I work at a restaurant that serves broc cheese soup. Yesterday when my togo customer never came for it (hours later) I decided to take it home. There's no food like free food, right? I so want to die right now. Feels like the body pains associated with the flu body pains but with really bad indigestion, no vomiting or diarrhea. Still, I have been tempted to make myself vomit to see if I can remove the offending item. uggghhhhh

Thanks for recalling for me. On some occassions I have sent food back and left. I always leave because I would not trust them to get it right. It may be an attitude in the kitchen. Thanks Ronyae

Good Point, Dr.  I agree with you that there are major attitude factors in the kitchen, that may as well be our suspects for bad customer service.
Thanks for reading and sharing a comment, Dr.

Ronyae, I feel for you. Food poisoning is way too painful. Plus the whole not-allowed-to-eat thing!

Hi Ronyae, what a terrible experience. Thank you for the reminder to be aware of, and sensitive to the food we are eating when we dine out. I hope you are feeling 100% better. Big hugs, Teresa
