America's handsome hunk from " Ghost" and " Dirty Dancing" was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2008. Although diagnosed for cancer, the heartthrob refused to let the illness take control of his life; Swayze recently held the starring role in "The Beast", an A & E Network original. But, the series was cancelled after Swayze's illness took on full effect; the cancer had spread to his liver in June.
(c)GettyImages 57-year old Swayze was born in Houston, Texas to a ballet dancer (Mother) and an engineering draftsman (Father). Swayze was active in football, martial arts, a great diver and track star. But his desires fell under dancing. Believe it or not, it was ballet.
After a surgery for an old football injury, Swayze's ballet career ended. Thus, the birth of his acting career. His first opportunity was a great one: leading role of Danny Zuko in the Broadway presentation of "Grease".
This would be the first of many appearances, leading roles and cameos for Swayze. Swayze also dabbed a bit in music. He sang the hit "She's Like the Wind" for the movie "Dirty Dancing".
Although small in height, Patrick Swayze wasn't anywhere near a small man to his supporters, friends and family. He will be sadly missed.

This is a good dedication to him Ronyae. I always had him confused with Kurt Russell. Now I know. ThanksThat's understandable, Dr. I'm glad to have been able to give tribute to such an outstanding person.
I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He was one patient that thought would beat the disease. That may have been the prayer of many of his supporters, family and friends, Ken. Thanks for reading.

Great article. Well done.I found him a great actor. I liked him most in John Jakes North and South.WOW, now that sounds like a classic, Connor (smile). He played in a lot of great movies; I seen him playing in a more recent movie, "Powder Blue". It was good to see him on screen again. Thanks for reading Connor.
Nicely done Ronyae, especially the last paragraph. I suspect his family would be deeply touched if they were to come across this piece. Blessings to you! TeresaThank you, Teresa. I only hope that his family knows how much he was loved by the masses.
Thanks Ronyae for writing this. His performances were always so real and intense. Married for 34 years to the same woman in Hollywood --- that speaks volumes of him not as an actor, but as man. Thanks again Ronyae.Exactly, Edward. Thanks for appreciating this small, personal tribute.
