The NEWS always find a way to scare the wits from you; it's designed to have an angle to draw more viewers. Ironic. But, some people are drawn by feaar ... crazy, I know.
A recent topic on the TODAY Show about criminal women at large, had me filled with caution; the preview snippet warned, "... these women could be living next door to you ... wait until you hear what crimes they've committed."
"Chrissakes!" I started to imagine the horrible crimes a person could do, let alone a woman. But when I imagine a woman, and certain crimes a woman may have a hand in, I see self-defense. Not saying all crimes committed by women are rooted with self-defense.
Just vision a very good neighbor: a Mother of five small children, having been a good neighbor and friend for more than 10 years.
Now, picture yourself watching the TODAY Show, and see your neighbor's face and profile being aired on the segment about "Most Wanted Women". The profile released information on [neighbor] murder of her husband, and apparently fled the state ... now, she's your neighbor.
Figuring her crimes were a result of self-defense for her and the children, how would you react about her abusive past, her crimes, and the fact that she's a friend ... Whatyo U'd Do ...? ... Concerning the 'Most Wanted's plea to help justice, would you inform them of your neighbor?

Top-level comments on this article: (5 total)A very good neighbor with kids shown on television to be 'Most Wanted' would make me think it is a mistake. I would probably continue talking with the neighbor and perhaps, in passing, mention the television coverage. If my neighbor was a shut-in with the smells of ammonia coming from the garage, it would be a different story, of course. Nicely-done.
Did this happen or is it totally hypothetical? I guess this is another reason we don't have TV? Interesting piece! Marijo
Hi Ronyae. Thank you for sharing this with us. It is a difficult question, but if she is a friend, I will have to let her know what I saw on TV. Maybe I will talk her into getting some legal help. ~Nenita~
Remember this: Do unto others as you want done unto you. If you were in her place what would you want your neighbor to do? Try, if you can, to determine why she did this. If she and her children were being abused she has probably been through enough hell already. They'll probably put her in prison where she will go through more years of hell- along with the children. Personally, I wouldn't want to be responsible for that- it would bother me more than not turning her in would.
Ronyae,My goodness, this is a toughie. I don't know what I would do. Had she murdered her husband in self-defense, she should have called the police immediately. Not having done so, she has made her situation worse; however, the justice system can be just as frightening.Yours is a challenging question.
