Taking A Break ... And, A Breather!

In the words of a 4-year old toddler when he has carried his own luggage up a flight of three steps, "Whewww!" Even though the toddler only had the three steps, and no more to travel, I have many more steps to climb - metaphorically speaking. I laughed when the toddler released his exasperation, but for more reasons than it being cute and funny; sometimes in life, a person needs to take a break once they feel a "whew" moment/feeling coming on ... the scene made me think of my own self, and my life's situations. The toddler realized after just only three steps, that the journey and task both, were tiring and took plenty of effort. As adults, we must also realize when whatever we are busying ourselves with, fervently could be wearing down our energy levels.

I know I don't have to go into the facts and statistics of wearing down energy levels and your health. Because we all should know by now how the factors are connected, and affect our overall health.

Being an entreprenuer, I am constantly 'busy' with work issues/situations.  My weak link falls under being busy without actually 'doing something'; feeling like I'm moving my wheels and nothing is happening, except I'm kicking up dust.

Of course I have been overly occupied recently with completing the production of my 3rd edition to the 'Leaned In' book series, and what else?  Why haven't I been able to compose and publish articles for the magazines, online columns and other writing sites I usually work for?  I have accomplished this "multi-tasking" before - and, many times.  So, why not now?

This 'dilemma' bothered me, until I realized my entire livelihood consisted of being online, writing and creative design ... I was burning myself out!  Although I hadn't logged in to create a column for a weekly site like obligated, and instead opened email to grab projects for the publishing company I work for, along with working on my book, I was pushing my release further away.

Writing creative articles/journalistic stories [editorials] are my way of releasing stress.  I know it may sound strange, but in my line of business of having to compose obituaries, Last Wills & Testaments, Business forms and contracts, I get lonely for positive, current events.

I have a notebook, maybe even two - full of column topics and blog ideas ... and they are still in the notebooks.  I haven't uploaded or composed any of the great articles on issues happening in my local area: Detroit is in turmoil, and it's going to be something strong as prayer to help us!

See, I'm rambling, and this goes to show how much of a 'BREAK" I am in need of (lafn).  If I did make resolutions for a new year, I would take a breather from the norm.  Sometimes, maybe doing things differently, or even stepping away from the norm is a positive effect for a person.  Try it, and "Take A Break!"
